He knew the man had a gun, and he
wasn’t sure of their positions, so he couldn’t risk revealing himself at this
point. He had to wait for Jason. He
just hoped the woman in the next room would be alive that long.
He heard the man deliver
another blow, and he couldn’t stand it anymore. Rising from his crouched position, he poised himself to leap into the doorway, his gun in his hand and
the safety off. That was when stars exploded behind his eyes.
